Mahashivaratri fervour grips Jammu City

The city is gearing up to celebrate Mahashivaratri with temples being prepared to receive thousands of pilgrims. Displaced Kashmiri Pandits celebrate the festival in their own unique way.
Ahead of the festival, a religious procession was taken out in the city, which passed through various markets, depicting various aspects of Lord Shiva. Many social and cultural organisations displayed tableaus to mark the festival, which falls on Tuesday.
In Jammu city, a large number of devotees gather at the historical Pir Kho Temple, Ranbireshwar Temple and other shrines. Like every year, a mela is being organised at Aap Shambhu Temple in Roop Nagar.
Meanwhile, Minister for Relief and Rehabilitation Javed Mustafa Mir paid a visit to Jagti township to take stock of the arrangements for the festival by the state government. The camp is inhabited by displaced Kashmiri Hindus. MLC Surinder Ambardar also accompanied him.
On the occasion, thousands of people are expected to visit the Shiv Khori cave shrine in Reasi.
